Demolition Moratorium

Posted on Updated on

The present Demolition Bylaw will expire on June 30, 2017.  The Historic District Commission plans to ask Town Meeting to revise the demolition delay bylaw and make it permanent.

While there are very good reasons to preserve historic buildings, I believe that more data is needed before a decision is made on whether the law should become permanent.  Thus, I would extend the temporary moratorium for three more years; the results of the moratorium thus far should be presented to the 2017 town meeting.
